Unlock the Secrets to Supporting Children Through Interoception

Are you an OT wanting to better understand why some children seem disconnected from their body signals - unaware of hunger, tiredness, pain, or emotions - and unsure how to help them build regulation from the inside out?

Interoception, often called the eighth sense, is at the heart of self-regulation and emotional awareness - yet it’s still one of the least understood areas in OT practice. When interoceptive awareness is disrupted, children can struggle with toileting, eating, emotional control, and participation in daily life.

In this 4.5-hour live training, you’ll discover how to connect neuroscience, sensory processing, and occupational performance in a practical, easy-to-understand way. You’ll learn what interoceptive assessments are available, set participation-focused goals, and build your confidence in selecting the right intervention approach for each child.

Not an OT? Not a problem...

This training is valuable for all professionals working with neurodivergent children - psychologists, speech pathologists, educators, and doctors alike. Understanding interoception is key to supporting meaningful engagement, self-awareness, and regulation in every setting.

About me...

Hey there - I’m Dr Michelle Newby, occupational therapist, clinical director, educator, mentor, and researcher. For more than 25 years, I’ve worked alongside children with neurodevelopmental conditions - and the incredible therapists who support them - helping both find confidence, clarity, and calm in the process.

I’ve spent my career blending research with real-world clinical practice to uncover what truly works when supporting children with sensory, interoceptive, and self-regulation challenges. And here’s what I’ve learned: when we tailor our approach to the child’s unique nervous system, everything changes - connection deepens, and participation blossoms.

Today, through my courses, mentoring, and global speaking, I help OTs move from overwhelmed to empowered with practical, evidence-aligned strategies that actually work in therapy rooms, classrooms, and homes. My mission? To equip you with the tools and insight to support every child to thrive - from the inside out.

Michelle’s PDA webinar gave me a terrific insight into the lived experience of PDA, which was especially eye-opening. It's deepened my empathy and understanding of PDA. Since taking the course, I feel much more confident in my approach, and I’ve already started using the questionnaire Michelle provided to screen two of my clients for a potential PDA profile. The results have been incredibly helpful in refining my support strategies. I highly recommend this workshop to any OT working with neurodivergent children - Michelle’s expertise is invaluable, and I’m grateful for the knowledge I gained.

Occupational Therapist

I recently attended Michelle’s Introduction to PDA course and gained so much insight into the lived experience of children with PDA.  Michelle has a way of breaking down complex concepts into something concrete and understandable. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the paediatric space and was able to provide effective strategies and practical tips on any questions that therapists had for her. I would highly recommend Michelle’s course for anyone wanting to know more about PDA and what it looks like in practice, and how to effectively support and engage children using OT-specific strategies.
